Feng Shui and Missing Corners

To the Feng Shui Master, floor plans are an indispensable tool for interpreting a home’s energy. The more accurate the floor plan, the more accurate the reading and placement of cures and activations. The Bagua or Energetic map of a space is applied to any floor plan, either as a tick tack toe grid or as a pie shape. Square or moderate rectangular footprints are the best shapes for applying the Bagua or energetic map. These shapes assure that the energies are complete, accounted for and not skewed. When the energies in the Bagua are not complete and accounted for on the floor plan, they are considered “missing”. Having a “missing” energy can eventually affect your life, especially if this is your home or your own business. The quality...

Energy of the Fire Monkey in our current times

After the recent world events, it is no surprise to me that there is a lot of fear present in the minds of people all over the world. How does Feng Shui help during these moments? At the beginning of every Chinese New Year, Master Practitioners are busy doing an annual checkup of their client’s space. They re-balance and neutralize the negative aspects of energy. These negative energies may have a big impact on their client’s business and lives. Every New Year brings about a change in energies. These changes set the tone and trend in many parts of industry and life. The energies also influence our behavior and our actions. The conflicts the world has experienced in the last few weeks are evident of this change in...

The Cycle of Change has begun!

The Spring Equinox marks the beginning of a cycle. On this day, the Earth’s Northern and Southern Hemisphere are receiving the sun’s rays in equal proportion. Our ancestors observed this change and it became reason to celebrate. The Christian community recognizes Easter as the most important and oldest celebration. Easter takes place the first Sunday after the first full moon following the Spring Equinox. However; Easter is only one of many Spring celebrations around the world. In Feng Shui and Chinese Metaphysics, this time also marks the beginning of Spring, the growth Cycle and the element of Wood. Early Spring is Yang wood as the trees are the first ones to wake up from the winter’s sleep. Like Trees that are waking up and extending their branches, so can...

Van Gogh Bedrooms and Feng Shui

The placement of the bed is one of the most important factors in someone’s life. Because we spend about one third of our lives sleeping, the bedroom exerts a big influence in our everyday life. I had the pleasure of seeing Van Gogh’s Bedrooms exhibit at the Art Institute of Chicago. According to the Museum, the exhibit drew more than 430,000 visitors. The museum had the highest daily attendance of any special exhibition for the last 15 years. We are so fortunate to have a gem close by. I was excited to go see this wonderful exhibit and examine it through Feng Shui eyes. Van Gogh’s paintings included much of his autobiography. Besides his original paintings, the museum also included letters he wrote to his brother Theo, whom...
